  • A Disappointing Blend of Unnatural Situations and Lackluster Character Development

"Gyeongseong Creature" falls short of expectations set by the director's previous success in "It's Okay Not to Be Okay." The movie's poor script presents protagonists in consistently advantageous yet unbelievable situations, disconnecting viewers from the narrative.

Character development is a significant flaw, with poorly developed characters exhibiting conflicting behaviors. This lack of depth leaves the film feeling shallow and fails to engage the audience emotionally.

Despite commendable performances by Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee, their chemistry is lacking, further contributing to the overall disappointment. While "Gyeongseong Creature" may have its moments, it pales in comparison to the director's previous work, lacking the storytelling finesse and emotional depth that viewers might expect.

-- Only great thing about this is the nice costumes and lighting.

  • Great movie from Vietnam

"Song Lang" stands as a shining example amidst the often tumultuous landscape of Vietnamese cinema. It distinguishes itself with a compelling storyline that gracefully navigates character development, a rarity in a country where such nuance is often overlooked. In stark contrast to the discomfort one might find in many Vietnamese films, "Song Lang" manages to evoke a sense of ease and authenticity that is a breath of fresh air.

The film's careful inclusion of traditional Vietnamese performances and folksongs is a testament to the filmmakers' dedication to preserving cultural heritage. These elements are not mere adornments but are seamlessly woven into the narrative, contributing to the film's beauty and emotional resonance.

In a cinematic landscape that sometimes leans towards the formulaic and superficial, "Song Lang" stands out as a true gem. It defies the trend of mediocrity that plagues the Vietnamese movie industry, offering a rare and invaluable experience for those who appreciate well-crafted storytelling and the rich tapestry of Vietnamese culture. This film is a testament to the potential for excellence in Vietnamese cinema when passion, talent, and a commitment to cultural authenticity converge.

  • Poor story line

The series displays ok acting, but its downfall lies in the amateurish writing and direction, reminiscent of high school projects. Character development is lacking, and the situations and dialogues feel painfully awkward and unnatural.

The first season was bad, but the second season reached new depths of terribleness.

In addition, the series bombards viewers with incessant and intrusive advertisements throughout, leaving you with the unsettling sensation that you're watching a resort/cafe commercial instead of a legitimate show. These constant interruptions further detract from any potential enjoyment, making it an exasperating viewing experience.
