steven lang was screwed for not getting best actor consideration, particularly given his awesome overhaul from the flawless depiction of pickett in gettysburg a decade earlier. robert duvall is a far, far better lee than martin sheen could ever hope to be. cinematography is incredible, and the scope of the film is extraordinarily ambitious. it seems inconceivable that more than 200 serious votes would give this masterpiece the lowest rating, a mere one, which likens it to seedy B movie trash. the guess here is that when the last full measure, the final film of the trilogy, comes out this group will score a ten regardless how poorly done simply because it will reflect northern rather than southern victories. worth seeing just for lang and duvall, and the supporting cast is just as impressive.

sam elliott in the best role of his entire career. awesome supporting cast including amy irving, glenn ford, ralph bellamy. terrific adaptation of anton myror's classic book required at west point. also required reading at most war colleges. almost every exising vote a perfect ten. why would one person throw the lowest score, a one, just to skew a masterpiece? ranks up there with roots as one of the greatest miniseries of all time.

If Blair Witch I didn't make for the worst movie of all time then try this stinker on for size. Another corny plot with lots of gratuitous nudity, foul language and other garbage better suited for your toilet bowl. This time more money gets pumped into production so that the "student project" AKA the original Blair Witch gets updated with this piece of trash that only is better in that the camera does not jerk around as much.

For those who like student project films try out CARNIVAL OF SOULS for comparison. That one was shot for peanuts and portrayed real terror and suspense without all the trash you get with any of these in this series.
