  • Excellent

"Batman Begins" is exactly what we needed. It's a super-hero movie that ignores the typical, cliché material: Good Guy fights Bad Guy(s) and Wins. Of course, there are clearly drawn-out Villains and Heroes, but there is so much more to the tale. We see the process Bruce Wayne goes through to become Batman. We feel his pain and loneliness. We witness his training and get to know what he stands for. The movie is philosophical as well as action-packed. Furthermore, the special effects are impressive, the fight scenes are perfect and most of the performances are great. I don't know about Michael Caine as Alfred, but Christian Bale was a wise choice, and the presence of Gary Oldman is always an asset. It's just a REALLY well-done action film; A thought provoking, heart stopping roller coaster ride you never want to come down from!

I don't think it's necessarily appropriate for children, but adults (Batfans or not) should run out and see "Batman Begins" immediately!

  • Worth a Look

When it first arrived on the scene, "Day of the Dead" was sadly underrated by critics. Those of us who enjoy Romero's 'Dead' trilogy know this is a masterpiece.

Not only do you have moaning, shuffling zombies, terrific make-up and effects, and buckets of gore, but you also have smart dialogue, great performances and realistic drama. Isn't that an ideal horror film? As soon as you meet the main characters, you're interested in their story; you generally care about them and even want (a few of) them to survive.

Confession: I got this movie on VHS as a Christmas present in the late 80s; I watched it so many times the tape actually broke. My friend and I still quote from it.

That means it's GOOD. Trust me.

  • Brilliant Concept, Yet Painful To Sit Through

I have no idea what everyone is raving about. Yes, the concept of "The Butterly Effect" is terrific.....in essence, if you could go back in time and change things, would you? Furthermore, for every action, there's a reaction, and so even things you make "right" in the past can still lead to things going "wrong" in a different way. Fine. But here's the problem; actually, there are many problems: The acting was worse than what you find in really bad community theater. The script was weak and, at times, ridiculous. There are one too many scenes that are long, drawn-out and painfully boring. Last, ASHTON KUTCHER MAKES THE MOST ANNOYING FACES KNOWN TO MANKIND! By the end, there are some "Oh, now I get it" moments which is good; however, I don't know if those moments are worth it. You have to sit through GARBAGE to get to them. IF you MUST see this film, do yourself a favor and have the Fast Forward button at hand.
