  • Meh at best

    The rating is kind.

I guess they tried to keep the Snow White costumes for more exact nostalgia but ends up looking dated and cringeworthy.

Could have kept the old version vibe but made the appearance more modern and/or realistic.

I CGI is nasty - go full live or not in as much a possible.

The Snow White & the Huntsman gsve an excellent example of a high quality remake ... this just feels sickly sweet - and I didn't feel anything fir any of the characters.

The CGI dwarves were distracting and I could not see Ziegler and see Snow White - she just does not fit the look of the character- to an extent that's it's distracting...

  • Fantastic - Bravo Patrick Stewart

    Just love the TNG Cast.

I love seeing Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Johnathan Frakes, Whoopi Goldberg and the old favourites- Q and Hugh - it makes all the difference having the same actors

Great show - More adult the TNG and linear as a continuous series.

Great special effects and new characters to help round out a lot of original crew.

Also some great Easter eggs from former Star Trek films and previous TNG episode references-I catch them all.

    Bravo!

Better than I could have expected and proves the talent and star power of actors on their 70s and 80s.

Compelling and enjoyable watch. Will watch and hope Patrick Stewart lives a long time!!!

  • Excellent - now I want to read the books

Just watched this in 2024 as I heard there was going to be a sequel so surely the first must be good right? It was and did not disappoint. I was just noting to my husband the other day that there used to be at least a few notable movies each year that really entertained and were not superhero or mass budget action flicks and that they rarely seemed to appear anymore.

This film was like that. We didn't find it boring or slow burning at all. The character development and whodunnit guess work keeps you engaged and wondering all the way through. I thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be in line to see the second installment and check out the books. I hear they are a great series. Bravo.

  • One of the best movies I've ever seen - and I hate jazz music.

This is one of the most incredible movies I've ever seen, and I am not a huge music fan and definitely not a jazz fan.

The movie has an incredible script. The acting and the dialogue is so compelling, I don't care who you are, you'll be blown away. Give this a watch. You'll have about 10 of the best insulting comments of all time (awesome) and a serious motivation to go after your dreams.

I can't believe that I need to have at least 600 words in my review to make it relevant. It only takes about 100 to make this review relevant, and that is to say the movie is incredible.

  • Great series... where's the rest of season one???

This was a fantastic series... even though I wasn't sure about the redhead - it was beautifully done.

My husband and I both watched and felt it was extremely poignant...I thought it ended for a mid season break... where is the rest of the story? ...we are waiting for the second half of season one... and at least one more season to finish the story.. even If they don't finish the series... it is worth watching regardless.

In the end, this was much better than the original... please watch, you'll be surprised...

I don't understand why I have to write 1000 words before I can save a review. That's ridiculous.,

I forgot how much I loved Josh Harnett- greatly missed and underrated actor.

I hope and wish he'd get more roles befitting his fine stage presence...

  • 6.5-7 - Worth it to see Miles Teller

Honestly, the movie was okay, and really was hilarious dark comedy in its best scenes...but has serious moments that brought depth. The ending was a bit weak and the screenplay could have been between thought out.

The real winner here was Miles Teller... the guy is going to be a superstar.. can't get enough of his screen presence... and Chris Hemsworth was great outside his usual typecast.

Any two other actors and this film would have been a 3-4.

With a better screenplay, they'd have made a solid 8 rating here. Just felt half done story wise - the acting was spot on.

Worth a laugh and watch just two see those 2 guys.

Tom Hiddleston is hot and right on point here. It's also fantastic to see 'House' again... missed his presence greatly since the series.

  • Fantastic Film - why low ratings?

My husband and I love this film.... and my husband doesn't typically go for rom/dramas... but he loved this.

We were flabbergasted by the lower reviews and box office results. This is a stunning rich ... 'what is going on' film that keeps you guessing, and your heart warm. Give it a shot.

I just wish I could download it or rent it online in Australia!! Finally here in 2023 and have bought it. 100x better than passengers with Jennifer Lawrence in space. Highly underrated.

  • Incredible effort -

Beautifully acted - I am becoming a serious fan of Chris Evans. He's not just a pretty faced superhero. He really stood out in Gifted and I'm really excited to see more. Well done. This is a superbly designed series, I think it is a solid 9 - don't listen to the naysayers ... honestly, it's worth watching just to see the incredible segues in the opening credits. Watch it, binge it, worth it 😎👌🏻

  • A solid fun action flick...

We really enjoyed this. You have to KNOW going in that this is going to be a fun, nonsensical, over the top action filled sleigh ride. Like True Lies in 1990. It's larger than life, insane, with long winded action sequences that are hilariously fun and filled with gore. This is not the English Patient, or Saving Private Ryan or the Remains of the Day....nor is it trying to be. It's meant for a 'I've had a hard week at the office and just want a violent fun filled ride'. And it delivers exactly that. If you want deep and meaningful... this is not for you. If you want action eye candy, it's still better than fast and furious. So when you're in the mood for some raucous fun, this will definitely hit the spot. If you want emotionality or meaning, look elsewhere, this is simply a joyride at the carnival and great fun for the ride. Tonight, this was exactly what we needed.

  • Liked it despite myself...

I'm a woman and find the reverse sexism that has come out since the metoo movement is a bit disturbing/embarrassing. I've been sexually harassed and not spoke up years ago. Alternately, I've slept with an older ma and been the seducer. It like how the show supports the movement, gives some space to imagine that Mitch is just a philanderer more than a predator (like Martin Short's character). Men like Mitch seem to be the collateral damage. And maybe we are entering or should enter a time where you can't sleep with coworkers for any reason. Either sex. It's just too risky. Anyway, getting off topic but I thought this would be a cringe worthy show but it's really drawn me and my husband in. We discuss the problems/possible solutions to this never ending complex work/relationship environment we all have to survive in. Very enjoyable show. Steve Carroll is awesome... Aniston is surprisingly good, even though I don't like her character... she plays it perfectly. Witherspoon is dead on - really great. Definitely watch / starts getting good a couple episodes in. Can't wait to see it play out

  • Wow!!!!!! You must watch it

We just went to Gold Class theatre tonight; in no small part due to the amazing reviews we read about Joker... we were not disappointed. It was incredible. I am a big fan of the Batman Begins series, but this is not that. It is a character study, deeply disturbing, emotional and riveting... we were both spellbound. There is no action, but we were on the edge of our seats none the less. It is an Oscar winning performance for Joaquin Phoenix or the Oscars are a joke. The whole movie is him, and he's incredible. I cried, I gasped, I laughed, I sympathised when the worst happened. I have always adored Chris Nolan's Batman, but this made me pity the joker. I enjoyed the Avengers movies. But if that's what you want, move on. This is acting and character development at its highest form. If you don't appreciate acting and English at its highest level, it's not for you. Bravissimo Joaquin, this was a lifetime's performance. 10/10 truth be told.

  • Best Series I've ever seen...

This is one of the best acted, best scripted series I've ever seen. It weaves the most dark dramatic fantastical tale across multiple timelines... it's beautiful, it's thrilling, it's a mind bend and fabulously fun to try and figure out with you partner who is who and what the heck is going on. It's the great type of series where we will actually pause the button so we can say "omg... that is so and so, or that must be how such and such happened..." A mystery, puzzle and a masterpiece for sure. Recommend to all adults. You get audience will miss the nuances...

  • A great dreamers film...

I know the critics crucified this film as of the tongue and cheek bash against them in the movie, but we loved it. The characters are rich, odd, funny and just like the sort of bizarre folks you meet in a small rental unit. The idea of a new fairytale is wonderful, beautiful, and Giamatti gives an astonishing tear worth monologue at one point that broke my heart and made me long for faith. This is not a realistic movie, it's a fantasy... treat it as such and enjoy a dream for awhile...

  • Not for gore fans....

People who enjoy action movies and Friday the 13th type gore, please move on. This is a psychological horror/thriller with strong character development. It is a thinking mans horror. If you want shock thrills and gore, see Final a Destination series or slasher flicks. They are fun too but that is not what this is. Move on. As for the rest of us, wow - you'll truly enjoy an emotionally charged dramatic horror that keeps you asking, how.... and why???

  • Incredible.... and I don't usually bother to write reviews...

They took the best prose from the novel and turned it into a stunning script with captivating, terrifying monologues and poetry .... used to much more effect than in the novel. I wasn't expecting much but was really impressed. The acting and writing was excellent. The only thing out of place was the fathers odd contact lenses... but I can forgive that for high quality psychological horror. The storyline surrounding Nell and the broken neck lady was an eye opener and loved how you can watch a second time and catch clues you missed on the first go. Thumbs up for season 2 - can't wait for another classic haunted house novel to reach the screen. I hope Netflix/the director hit the mark again with the adaptation, actors and storyline. Great series!

  • Unbelievable... tears and makes you want to be a hero

Probably one of the most inspiring series I've ever seen. I cried. I felt immense pride. I worked out harder at the gym. I wanted to enlist to Buds training. I wanted to be an everyday hero. Watch and dream of what you could be in the shadow of these men's great deeds. Praying for another season. Soundtrack brings tears and fighting spirit as well. 10 out of 10.
