I loved this dhow do much, i was addicted to it. Unfortunately History Channel is really good to squeeze the juice out.
What has happened?
It started to go downhill as History decided to re-run the same episodes again and again.
I still came back and still find myself longing for Forged and Fire.
Long story short, they recently aired the new season and boy is it a let down.
Wil Willis might have set the bar high but even if he did not do so intentionally.
The new host has the chemistry of a butcher.
Horrible.

I stumbled into Josh Gates incidentally by watching Expedition Unknown. Initially very interesting, though the highly scripted, formulaic and repetitive nature was letting me down.
This series explores interesting locations or history, but without all the staged scenes which is very refreshing.
You might get less eye candy but more content and staging, it has more a documentary nature instead of Reality TV which is often not real.
Give this one a try even if you did not like Expedition Unknown for the reasons outlined.

I started watching this when Barry (the collector) was still part of it, he had a unique style and humour. But since he is retired it lost the majority of it's flair. But the real reason that I give such a low rating is tge fact that all is fake, the investors are indeed actors. What annoyed me even more, how stupid does the History channel think the average viewer is? Most telling example: Mary from the spin off (Storage Wars Texas) is now only to see on the main show which is in California. Even as a European I know that it takes almost 24h by car from Texas to California? Who would do that? The gasoline would eat up all the profit. At the same time she is no longer attending auctions in her home state Texas. She was obviously promoted and the fact that she lives in Texas is as real as everything else. It's an insult to the human brain.
