This show is sweet, funny, inclusive, romantic. Why am I so jaded that I thought things will go off the rails, waiting for a betrayal (I mean besides the obvious one in the first episode). These characters are supportive, committed to growth, and growing. They say the right things during tense moments and mostly make the right decisions. I admit it made me even cry sometimes. It does walk a very very fine line of sappy and sometimes even preachy. I'd have rated it a bit higher if I didn't have a slight fear it can tilt into that territory. Still! I binged all 8 episodes and can't wait for second season. Also, watch Michelle's stand ups!
It starts out very intriguing, like an extended Black Mirror themed show. And yes for a show that requires us to suspend disbelief, you wind up going way too often: WTH just happened? Why? How? When? Timelines and character motivations are confusing. Scene sequences are sometimes idiotic to say the least. Anyway, not interested in season 2.
It starts off strong, but then disintegrates into sappy stereotypical hallmark movie. The actors for both the adult and the teen characters of Tully and Kate are the only thing that kept me watching. Heigl, Chalke, Skovbye, and Curtis ate GREAT! Otherwise, whiplash between decades, cliche or way too on-the-nose parallels and situations, uneven direction etc made me roll my eyes way too often.
I also didn't realize it was an actual series, not a limited run. Soooo, now I have to consider whether I cut my losses or continue to roll my eyes in the second season.
