I tried to watch this, because it sounded like an interesting enough premise. But, as is so often the case in horror, even a solid premise cannot compensate for poor execution.
I was able to overlook the dodgy opening scenes, with the jarring time-jump filled with random characters in medias res with a burning RV.
But then an otherwise perfectly legit-seeming hobby-Satanist started to consistently pronounce "Baphomet" as "Baphomé", like its a fine Bordeaux that pairs well unbaptized baby meat or a brand of infernal bath beads, I decided that if the series creators cared that little about the content of their show then I cared even less.

Why do so many modern movies -- not just horror movies -- saddle us with unlikeable protagonists, especially couples who obviously can't stand each other and don't belong together?
Many criticize the acting of the principals, but even fantastic actors wouldn't have made the characters likable, just more realistically annoying.
An underwater haunted house is a usual concept. Sadly, starting with 20 minutes of us alone with this unbelievable and unbearable duo (and NO ONE ELSE), the film's main terror for me was the idea of continuing to be trapped with the two of them ANYWHERE; the underwater haunted house was the least terrifying prospect.

I loved this film.
I have never seen any work by Steve Soderbergh before, but was aware that he was known for innovative film techniques (such as the "ghost-POV" that is the pivotal feature of this psychological horror film. But having seen this film and been mesmerized by its tension and cleverness, I may have to see all his other films, too.
I am huge fan of horror films of many kinds. If you are the type of horror fan who needs lots of gore, this film will not satisfy. But if you are the type of viewer who shies away from horror films, then this is a great one for you to see.
I have to confess that some of the dialog seemed a bit awkward, but I decided that was not a flaw, but a feature, reflecting the awkwardness of the family's internal dynamics.
This was one of the best cinematic experiences I have had it a while, and I am confident most of you will enjoy it.
