  • Raw and dark, yet realistic - great acting

One of the best thriller-drama series ever written. Set in Antwerp and Amsterdam, it provides deep insights in the prostitution scene, the related legal and illegal activities and the thorough, complex police work needed to restrict it. Halina Reijn's and Carice van Houten's performances are both excellent; their relation dynamics unsettling. Both entertaining and very impressive.

  • Slow start, speeding up in episodes 4-5

Enjoyable combination of atmosphere, historical sites and a slowly building plot. Episodes 2 and 3 progress a bit too slowly, but sticking to it surely is worth it. Patience is rewarded, great first season: hoping for more in other locations!

  • Finding God can be hard...

... especially if you're a young mother in suburbian UK, whose emotional damage is even more substantial than her physical damage. Nice acting performances in an documentary-like drama. And even though the plot is not very surprising, the eye for detail and overwhelming soundtrack make up for it.
