This movie short, Awaken, in my opinion, was ahead of it's time. The dream sequences within a dream concept that this film explores was done in 2005, six years before Christopher Nolan did this in Inception. The director has a great feel for the emotion evoked of wanting the unobtainable. The movie creates an anxious tension around the main character as he struggles to find the girl of his dream, only to come up empty time and time again. This keeps the viewer focused and wondering what will happen in the end. The writer/director, Michael Casperson, has a keen sense of creating the longing to love or be loved. Casperson, with out a doubt, a director up and coming, considering he filmed Awaken at an age of 18. His choice of casting unknown actors was well done, very believable acting in this movie. Bravo!
