For the majority of us who have posted re "Love Comes Softly", you'll be happy to know that the sequel "Love's Enduring Promise" is underway. Filming started on March 29th. Dale Midkiff and Kathryn Heigl will reprise their roles as Clark and Marty Davis. Since Missy is older in this book, the wonderful Skye McCole Bartusiak will be replaced by January Jones. The movie is due out in November. Once again, it's directed by Michael Landon Jr. And the DVD/VHS of "LCS" is due in the Fall. More good news: Dale Midkiff won an award (the Grace Prize for television acting) for his portrayal of Clark Davis in "LCS" which also took the Epiphany Prize for Most Inspirational Television Program sponsored by The John Templeton Foundation. The awards were presented on March 24, 2004 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Well deserved!
I watched this movie for several reasons: Michael Landon,Jr.'s involvement (as I suspected, he learned well from his father); I love Westerns (and romances); and I'm a fan of Dale Midkiff's and consider him talented and hugely underrated. I love to examine an actor's portrayal of a role. The way Midkiff used his voice(tone and inflection) to display Clark Davis' kindness, gentleness, and honor was perfection. Talk about nailing a role! (He's just as believable as the rascally womanizer,Buck, on "The Magnificent Seven.") I hope to see a sequel (or several) to this appealing movie.
