Prior to seeing this film, Batman Forever was my favourite. There was something about it that wasn't in Burton's films.
I felt that Burton's 2 films in the series were too dark and at times not easy to watch, whereas although Schumacher's Batman Forever (lets forget Batman and Robin) was very good, it was a little too humorous. Begins finds the balance perfectly and therefore makes for compelling viewing.
I don't want to ruin anything, but everything about this film is flawless. It's up there with The Aviator, The Life Aquatic and Crash as one of 2005's best film in my opinion.
Bale is brilliant as the young Bruce Wayne. Caine is always good, as is Morgan Freeman. Gary Oldman is also superb.
Simply go and enjoy
Cheers, Rob

This is a nice, enjoyable film. But I'll admit that the only reason I've seen it is because my mum has a cameo role as the lady who walks next to the mean lady who takes the boy when he is young.
The performances are strong in this film, but I'm sure it didn't have to be as long as it was. The French circus finale' isn't bad at all, but along the way, I'm sure children may get a bit bored. Although for a younger audience, and older audience may take it in a little better.
Anyway it's worth a watch. I only ever saw parts of Clowning Around 2.

I was expecting this film to be the best film of 2004, but sadly I was disappointed. Not by the superb performances, or the very original screenplay, but by the sloppy directing of Michael Gondry.
This film misses Spike Jonze who brought us Being John Malkovich and Adaptation. Gondry's work on Human Nature is much more tidy, and more of a pleasure to watch.
Overall I'd recommend that you see this film, unless of course you're a die-hard Jim Carrey fan who thinks he's going to see Ace Ventura 3. (and no it doesn't exist, I just got bored and felt like writing that.)
