  • Fascinating film...a whole new light

I just watched this film in my college Adolescent Development class today, and it was fascinating. It gave me this whole new perspective on the Amish culture. I don't live in Amish Country, but Amish Country is right outside the city I live in, and you alwasy see Amish buggies at Wal Mart. Now its like, if I see some kids partying and stuff, it's makes ya wonder if they're the Amish during their transition. It is really sad though, that if they choose not to join or leave the community they're shunned and forgotten, even by family. And the boy Faron...I just wonder what he's doing now...if he's still in Florida, if he's moved back with his family and joined the Amish church. Anyway, good documentary...very interesting and captivating. I suggest seeing this film and learning more about the Amish youth...I think you'll be intriging!

  • Great show!

I recently started getting this new channel called The-N and they show this show. I started watching it, half because I'm obsesed with Australian accents and half because there's a soft spot in my heart for teen shows. But I like the show and now I watch it every day. The characters and stories are fairly realistic to teen life, and they're very likable. Of course, the acting isn't exactly Oscar, Emmy, or Golden Globe worthy, but it just a teen show, and it doesn't exactly have to be. Someone posted on here that it's a bad show for kids to be watching because it(along with Boy Meets World & Even Stevens) causes/promotes teen pregnancy & divorce. How is that? I watch Even Stevens, too...it's an excellent show and not at all a disgrace to Walt Disney(like this person said in their post). People barely even kiss on Even Stevens. Ren has her typical teen girl crushes on the cute boys in school and Louis has a crush on Tawny. Much like in Out There, when Reilly has a cruch on Fiona and Miller has a crush on Aggie I Boy Meets World, Tapanga & Cory were in love their entire life and got married...and they never got pregnant, and it appeared that they never had sex until their wedding night. As for Reilly calling girls chicks....show a teenage boy who has NEVER called a girl a chick...AT LEAST ONCE...and I'll like, be your slave for life. It's what boys do...it's no surprise. Anyway, this is a good teen show, and see in no way how it causes teen pregnancy or divorce. It's a very cute show. I'm just said it's ending already!:( lol Great show! You should check it out if you can!

  • It's ok...but I perfer the original:)

I recently started getting this new channel call The-N and I noticed they showed Degrassi. I grew up with the original Degrassi Jr. High & High, and I LOVE the show! So, I HAD to check out the new Degrassi. I've only seen it a few times, and it's alright. I think it's cool that some of the old Degrassi people are there as parents and teachers..."Spike" and "Snake" specifically. Like I said I've only seen it a few times, so I don't have the characters names down, but there are definately some I like, some I don't, and some actors who are certainly not the greatest actors. But, still, I like that they brought the show back for a new generation. It's a cute show...but it can never exceed the original!:)
