  • A Must See Cartoon For The Whole Famly

If you love cartoons, you'll love "Pearlie". Based on the books by Australian comedienne and author Wendy Harmer, "Pearlie" is surely to delight young and old alike. The artwork and story lines are top notch and the voices are perfect to each individual character. You can tell the entire production is lovingly put together by people who really take pride in bringing quality entertainment to the entire family. The setting for "Pearlie" takes place in "Jubilee Park", located in a big city. Like all parks, "Jubilee park" is watched over by fairies and other mythical beings. The title character, "Pearlie" is in charge of overseeing the day to day operations at the park. She's a young, hardworking fairy who's always busy planning this, or with her wand, fixing that. She is very friendly and outgoing, and sometimes she gets into trouble because of her good-hearted nature. Her immediate supervisor from "Fairy HQ" is "Gobsmack", a fairy who's always "popping up" when least expected and who isn't always on "Pearlie's" side. He sometimes sides with "Pearlie's" slightly evil cousin, "Saphira". who operates a spa in the park's green house, and her bat servant "Ludwig" (who worships the ground she walks on regardless of how she treats him). "Saphira" usually tries to get "Pearlie" in trouble with "fairy HQ" so that they will fire her and she won't have to deal with her "perfectly perfect cousin" anymore. Her plans usually backfire, and every now and then, she does help her cousin out. "Pearlie" has a trainee working with her by the name of "Opal". "Opal" is from the Australian Outback and she is best friends with "Pearlie" She's a bit more cynical of the world around her, and sometimes for good reason, especially with "Gobsmack" and "Saphira" hanging around. "Jasper is the elf in the park. He's part of "Pearlie's" team, as well as her best friend. Slightly on the laid back side, the dread-lock-wearing "Jasper" would rather play his bongos than work, but he respects "Pearlie" enough to do his part and to help his friends out of trouble. Other characters that show up are the park rats "Scragg" and "Mr. Flea". They are kind of like "Abbott and Costello" with tails. "The rats" provide headaches for "Pearlie" sometimes, but they have a respect for each other. "Great Aunt Garnett" is "Pearlie's" aunt. She runs the fairy store in the clock tower across the street from the park. She is a fun loving fairy who helps "Pearlie" out with potions, spells, and whatever she may need to take care of a problem or situation. Trouble is, sometimes "Aunt Garnett's" help is worse than what she's trying to help out with. By the end of the 15 minute episode though, all is well. Other colourful characters inhabit "Jubillee Park", and they appear on various episodes. The stories are written in a manner that can be enjoyed by those of any age. Most stories teach children the value of friendship, respect, and the value of right from wrong. If you are looking for a great cartoon in the tradition of the classic Warner Bros. way, look no further than "Pearlie". The show truly is "magic in the city".
