The film is visually stunning as many people say, but from the beginning I found the voice for the robot so distracting like it was being read at a first read through or something. I know it's a robot, but there was just no passion or delivery even in the voice that made me warm to the character or what they were saying at all. It spoilt what otherwise would be a great movie.
I just kept really hearing her "read* the script in front of her as though she didn't understand the character she was playing, or decide on a route to take it. It's a confusing role to play I guess but I suppose that's the skill of the actor to work that out and take it in a direction.

Feels like an American screenwriter tried to write a British costume drama.
Putting the modern twists aside (these can be welcomed and interesting) it is just all utter nonsense.
Have no feeling for the characters and the script is delivered in an self,-aware way that just makes me cringe. It's just looks all the time like it wants to be a costume drama but doesn't know how to be.
They threw so much money at it but this weird fantasy world they have created... It's just so unbelievable.
Oh crud another 100 characters to go. Well it gets 3 stars because there were some likable bits. But I gave up halfway through season 1.

It's entertaining, great cast, some occasional strong writing. A bit on the politically correct side of things. I do appreciate nods to liberal attitudes and progressive story lines but it's a bit angry culture war-ey side of things. Like it comes from atop a soap box.
Silly historically implausible things.
And then the shape shifting animal thing. It just feels so unnecessary. I was really enjoying it until then, I was sold into believing the characters and their lives and then this just feels silly. Takes away from all the realism they are trying to add with the abrupt language and swearing, the observations on human nature etc. Undermines the realism.
