Absolutely stunning visually but lacks a story that's well written. It's obvious M Night has taught his daughter how to put together a movie with perfect cinematography. And some of the shot setup is unique and amazing. There were a few awesome glances at rural Ireland. With that said, it's also obvious that this script was lacking. And that same problem sets up actors to appear like they're going through the motions or less energetic. The signature Shymalan twist was in place, but Act 1 felt rushed and Act 2 was a snoozer.
Fanning does well with what she has to do. The bird Darwin was cute and really popped in the teal & orange. I didn't like the side characters as much, mostly due to the way they were written. Madeline's character was way too wordy, and Oliver Finnegan seemed miscast here. Worth the watch for the shots and Act 3 but Shymalan really needs some help with the writing.

More of an experimental movie rather than a horror. Littered with atypical angles and shots, the lack of a script and a bad filter, this movie delivers a confusing premise of 2 kids trapped in a haunted house.
Without a cohesive presentation, what could be a decent story is convoluted then lost behind off center camera shots, poor audio and repetitive imagery. Just not for ne though it does seem to have a dedicated group of apologists who think this is scary. About 3 or 4 jump scares due to switching Long lull periods with loud random sound effects were about the only time I caught anything from this movie other than annoyance. Huge waste of time for me and unless youre into film experiments, you might not enjoy it either.

This wasn't the best offering. Awkwafina moves on camera like someone double her ever increasing age. There's something about her that's immensely unlikeable, even when teamed up with rising stars John Cena & Simu Liu (who both deliver as well as they can on a substandard script). Cinematography was weird here. Far too vivid and missing adequate filter.
There were some cameos that didn't make this a total loss of time. The storyline was interesting even if the writing didn't back it up. Definitely a straight to streaming offering, and hopefully one of the last times we need to have Awkwafina try to lead a production.
