The crown jewels of the country of Marnsburg are stolen while they are being transported to the UN. Since this occurred in the US, the IM team is called upon to find the jewels and return them. An unusually mundane case for the team considering this is the final episode of the TV series...at least before it was brought back for a brief run in the late 1980s.
The trail leads to Jena Cole, a woman who owns a nightclub. Barney goes there to convince her he was a friend of her late brother. He's also there to try to convince her she stole cheap copies of the actual jewels in order to try to get her to reveal her booty.
This is an okay episode....when I was really hoping for an exceptional one to wind up the series. Worth seeing, of course, but not a great episode.
By the way, the mousey looking guy at the desk at the hotel is Olan Soule...the voice of Batman of all people, for the "Superfriends" cartoon series.

When I say that this is a strange case for the team, I mean that the problem seems to be something much more akin for conventional law enforcement...not a hotshot secret organization like the Impossible Missions team. After all, it's simply about locating and returning stolen Pre-Columbian art to the Azteca Museum. My guess is the well was pretty dry by 1973 and even bad ideas were being made into episodes. After all, this is the penultimate show in the series....that is, until the brief revival in the late 1980s.
In this episode, the goal is to convince Van Cleve (Ed Nelson) that he has developed precognitive powers. In other words, he is starting to have visions of things which WILL happen in the future. Once he believes this, the plan is to use his 'powers' to divulge the whereabouts of the stolen treasure.
While this was a moderately interesting episode, as I mentioned above this seemed like an odd assignment for the team. It just goes to show you the ideas weren't coming very easily during season seven. Watchable but not among the better episodes.

Gunnar Malstrom (Dean Stockwell) is a member of a terrorist group called Pendulum. Their goal is to overthrow the United States government, though Malstrom is the only one whose identity is known by the authorities. The team's goal is to infiltrate Pendulum to learn who its leaders are and to put a stop to them once and for all.
The team's plan calls for creating a rival secret organization...one that wants to recruit Malstrom and which might just be bigger and more powerful than Pendulum.
I think this was one of the better episodes of season seven...though that wouldn't be all that difficult. Well worth seeing.
