The director Sekhar has attempted a story that is compelling and engaging and has pitted three superb actors against each other and all of them shine in this movie.
The movie would have been a perfect 10 but for the un-necessary introduction of Rashmika's character who no doubt plays an important part in the overall movie but would have greatly shortened the length of the story which suddenly goes off tangent and even looses some of its shape and hold over the audience as it goes for frills and works on that tangent with the introduction of the police inspector (all very good actors) but does not do much for the overall story.
I would have been happy and advised Sekhar to write away the character of Rashmika and promote the character of Khusboo played by Shravani as the aide to Dhanush' character. But the movie is done and has been super successful so I keep my advice to myself.
Going back the three actors Dhanush, Nagarjuna and Jim Sarbh play to each other and are the backbone of the movie. Dhanush puts in a stellar performance and we see Nagarjuna with two faces - one broken by the system and another ruthless but still harboring goodness and Jim as he always does as a cocky and cocksure person who gives new meaning to the word ruthless.
Dhanush is the heart and soul of the movie and puts out his best as the movie winds towards a satisfactory conclusion.

The movie seemed to have everything going for it at the start and it starts well
but somewhere down the road the director and the people in charge just forgot why they were making the movie and got trapped in each others ideas.
Why am I saying this - 1. The movie starts off with a pandemic which is not curable - fair topic 2. People want to escape the country before quarantine laws are enforced - fair point too 3. Heard and headed for a Shangri la - fair point
Despite the above, the movie without any pressure about the virus/infection turns into a more than decent human interest movie and should have continued down that road. Tons of emotional trauma and baggage would have made this an above average movie but the ideas start to spin and the mess unravels with more muck than one can digest.
The story should have been about the survivors but....
The movie does not show anything about the infection either.
Go ponder and leave this thing alone.

Sean William participated in a great many flicks after he achieved instant nirvana through American Pie but has not shone much and has mostly taken a downturn with these kind of movies that bely his natural talent.
The story here is all over the place and does not hold interest at any point.
The standard school team going south and then reversing is done to death with indifferent storyline and absurd scenes that does not carry the story forward. A lot of set pieces from other movies of the genre have been tried here at random hoping to keep the movie stock flying but to no avail.
Not worth the time.
