The original made for TV movie "Club Las Piranjas" from 1995 was a Satire on club tourism and was perfectly describing Holiday with mandatory fun and pseudo entertaining guides. The guests were not allowed to leave and were forced to join the "fun" offered by Edwin and Biggi. The Story had an end. So what does this follow up has to offer?

Not much basically. While there are a few nice jokes, nice Location on Mauritius and it is good to see Hape Kerkeling, Angelika Milster and Judy Winter to reprise their roles again but besides a few characters (the son of Edwin was mentioned briefly in the original movie) and the name of the hotel, there is nothing that resembles the original movie. In fact it is just a regular sitcom that is set in a hotel. The same Formular would work for every show that does not have a Name from the 1990s. Here we have no forced fun, no prison-like Environment and Nothing that would resemble Satire. Many new plot Elements are taken off but not really cleared, especially regarding the main point, the wedding of Edwin's illegitimate son Björn and the estate of his mother Renate. The Connections come so fast and you can't really relate to that. Why making it a follow-up if you don't really recreate any connections?

It is a Sequel that is just a small waste of time and a sequel that unobody needed. Stick to the original movie and enjoy it.

Being familiar with the shows of RTL and after seing the unnecessary sequel to "Club Las Piranhas", also being familiar with many other unneceessary reboots of classic shows nowadays I was very sceptical about the show but I decided to give it a go anyway. What can I say: I was really positively surprised. This show is really a respectful sequel to the classic Pumuckl stories with the great Gustl Bayrhammer and Hans Clarin from the 1980s, with which many, including myself, grew up with. They didn't just remake the show, they gave the show new life, while still keeping the style of the original. They did small references to the original show, to Bayrhammer, rebuilt the set the way it was, had the original voice of Hans Clarin instead of having an impersonator and despite the show being set in modern times they didn't try to make the show "hip" or "ultramodern". The way it was done it was very well done and elaborated. The new actors also fit well in the show and it is good that they had some of the original actors appearing in it too.

This show has good actors, including some of the newcomers, great production design in reference to costumes, sets, make up etc. But: It also has bad writing. I loved "Switch Reloaded", which was not only funny but also offered great satire to current events. This Reload of the show that was originally based on "Fast Forward" is mainly spoofing TV series productions and has practically no satirical commentary anymore and no reference to current events, which is a shame as the actors do great impersonations of the celebrities and the characters.

And furthermore: While both "Switch" and "Switch reloaded" had the premise that someone is flipping channels, which is very common, here the user is swiching from one video to another. Does anyone actually does this? Since most people, especially when binging (hence the show's title) they stick to the show and don't switch from one show to another within the running time, which makes it pointless.

It is a shame as they could have done a lot more and a lot better material with it.
