  • Written and directed by a 12 year old kid????

I'll make this short and sweet.

I saw this movie so you don't have to !

    1) Worst script/screenplay EVER!

    2) Nothing made any sense! I mean... nothing !

    3) Worst plot ever, plot holes so big you want to cry!

    4) Worst dialogue ever in the history of cinema...

This felt like totally amateur night... all the scenes were put together as if two twelve year old boys were sitting down and making the "best action movie of all times".

The director clearly wanted to make something "cool", and tried to copy movies like Pulp Fiction and every gangster movie made by Guy Richie.

But in the end, everything just fails. The movie is totally filled up with WTF moments... actually almost EVERY single scene didn't make any sense!

I hope this director NEVER will make another film again in his life.

I had to give it 1/10... but this disaster of a "movie" truly deserves a "0".

  • Not as good as I hoped...

I just saw it in the comfort of my own living room, without subtitles - but I speak a fair bit of Japanese myself, and I had an excellent translator (my girlfriend) who saw it with me.

Now, I am - as many of you - a huge Takashi Miike fan. But this one is my least favourite so far (but what do I know - having only seen about 10 of his movies). But anyway, my point is this; it tried to be funny - and sometimes it was mildly amusing.. but this was really a kids-movie. A mix between Mars Attacks and Howard The Duck, I don't feel I have wasted my time watching it - but as I said in my headline, it was not as good as I had hoped it would be.

It wasn't qwerky enough to be "really weird and qwerky", it wasn't funny enough to be a great comedy, it wasn't violent enough to be a Miike trademark gore-fest, and definitely not original enough to be "something completely new"... so what we're left with is a bit of this - a bit of that.. not really going anywhere.

But as I said, If you like Miike - you'll probably end up watching it anyway - just like I did.

  • What makes a good film??

After seeing this movie, I asked myself: "What makes a good film?", and if the answer is "the amount of tears rolling down your cheeks", then this is the best film ever!

I don't care that the portrayal of the samurai is a bit black/white (really good guys VS really bad guys), and I don't care that Tom Cruise, ultimately plays the role of "Tom Cruise". 15 minutes into the film, my eyes filled up slightly, and I kept on feeling like that all the way until the end. I loved it! It was painful! I cried many times! I left the cinema wanting to be a better person! Maybe someday I'll also find "peace"

    12 out of 10!
