Water is certainly an excellent film by an excellent director. She has crafted a drama that blends a love story with social commentary, humour and the challenges of faith. The characterizations are subtle yet complex. The cinematography is outstanding.
However, what I wonder about arises from the plot outline and film description posted on the IMDb, which describe Narayana (John Abraham's character) as being of lower caste and his father's home as being a "hovel". Did I see a different version of Water? In the film I saw Narayana and his family are high caste Brahmans and the "hovel" is a mansion. Perhaps someone can explain this to me.

Yes, this film is quite awful which, I am afraid, is ultimately the director's fault. It does not help that the story is very thin and the action almost awkward.
However, this Dan Andersen intrigues me -- not just the great body but also the vulnerable giant quality. He seems to have a bit of an accent. What is it? Danish, like the name Andersen? His acting makes fellow beefcake Vin Diesel look like Lawrence Olivier? Nonetheless, to a certain point acting is a skill that can be worked on.
Any information on Dan Andersen would be appreciated. Usually thorough IMDb has nothing on him. Even Google can't find him.

Even taking into account the fact that extras are probably pretty cheap in Russia, if the producer had hired only half the cast of hundreds who stand around in this film and used the money instead to hire a writer with a plot, this film would have potential.
