  • Movie So True to reality

Besides the fact of a movie that is so well made, I must say that the story line, the plot, the theme, the idea is no true, based on real life.

Can't and won't indulge in details and yet I can acknowledge the fact that this movie has, for the first time, brought in light the work of those silent soldiers who defend the biggest, the greatest democracy of this world.

I would have given 10/10 and won't for the fact there were a couple of songs that were made part of it. I do understand that it is Hindi movie and without songs they don't qualify to be 'Hindi/Indian' movie. Then again, this wasn't the movie to qualify as one.

Excellent direction, acting, editing, sound ... the list is long and elaborate.

I suggest this is a must watch Indian thriller, coming of an age.

  • Absolutely delightful

For a long time, there hasn't been a movie I would call as 'Gentle' in its presentation and tone.

This movie has all the ingredients in the right proportion sans sex and violence. Not mushy type though.

Great story rendered with great fineness. Admired wonderful acting by Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. JoJo Kushner is simply adorable.

Here is a film, a fiction, that you can believe it to be true.

Amazing to see how flawlessly the story has been woven. Inter action of people of two different generations has been so nicely depicted.

Impressive ways to highlight the good of two different generations. Highlighting the good of each not disrespecting the other.

One more movie to be added in my personal collection for worth keeping it for long time.

    Worth watching once.

  • Poor attempt at repackaging the story theme from "Pay It Forward"

I have seen most people compare this film with one made in South India. I would not comment on the other film. What I do know is that the story theme/essence had featured in a 2000 Hollywood movie named 'Pay It Forward'. Of course there are differences. Hollywood film is about a young school kid, the part substituted in Hindi avataar by a go hit them all macho muscular ex-army Major portrayed by Salmaan. If I hadn't known and see the Hollywood movie, I might have given a star or two more to this film. A very powerful story theme was so grossly wasted when they tried to wrap it up with adding 'masala' Bollywood stuff. I feel the subject of the story did not get enough justice. A lot of unnecessary importance was given to 'glamour' and 'romance'. Of course a few too many songs too have taken away the spotlight from the main storyline. This film could have created a much bigger impact when the subject of story would have had a chance to shine.
