Amon Düül II spielt Phallus Dei

  • Could use more band footage

Vintage video which could benefit from more actual footage of the band playing. This film has an interesting nostalgic atmosphere. Pastoral shots are dwelt on which distract from the playing of Amon Duul. The print suffers from streaks, no huge surprise though due to the age and rarity of the item. This version is from 2003, Repertoire Records.

The only bonus is a brief chronology of the band which displays album covers and photos while a composite soundtrack accompanies.

I hope that more music of this genre is made available on DVD and am glad that this was made available (Region 1). This is a bit of a tease in the sense in that the film is only 28 minutes long, including the footage of landscapes. Their music, at that point was not as developed but still most interesting to watch. It is a great companion to the Can DVD.
