The fourth volume of the second season is the best! The Harmonium has a perfect pace, the lines of the story line - Juliette/Solo - Bernard/Meadows - Knox/Shirley are told dynamically and their interweaving is seamless. This time it was Jean Crupper who had editing on her shoulders and she did it excellent. This time, only superlatives and the viewer's joy from an exceptionally successful episode. Thank you, that's exactly the direction I hope the entire series will develop in terms of the quality and dynamic storytelling. The acting in the series is at a high level and it's great that the director also joins in, good job Avelino.
A slight upward shift in the rating, thanks to the interweaving of the plot in both silos. But the editing by Jamie Alain is totally awful. It takes a lot of courage to let a guy who has mediocre at best pieces in his portfolio edit a series. And this risk has been an absolute failure for the creators and the studio. I don't want to see the sterile editing of Alain in anything in the future. It's sad to see the decline of a show that, for me, was at serial Olympus itself last year. I firmly believe that we will see improvement in the remaining episodes, otherwise we have a premature end to an exceptional series.
The series pays tribute in a very respectful way to Roger Kumble's nineteen nineties film treatment. Compared to it, the lead actors are not as charismatic and sexy as the Ryan Phillippe - Sarah Michelle Gellar - Reese Witherspoon trio was. But as a form of introducing Choderlos de Laclos' classic novel to a young, contemporary audience, the creation of Adam Arkin, Nick Copus, Pippa Bianca and Iain B. MacDonald works. Although at first glance some audience members may think that the casting of Zac Burgess' Lucien has gone awry, the very first scenes between him and Annie (Savannah Lee Smith) convince us otherwise. The chemistry between the two is incredible and literally radiates through the monitors and screens into our living rooms. Episode by episode, the series gets juicier and funnier. For me, definitely the surprise series of the year and one of the top three series in 2024! I absolutely recommend Cruel Intentions to anyone who enjoys intrigue and intelligent series set in a university environment. Huge anticipation for the second series. Nine stars!š P. S. Everything here is polished to the smallest detail, including the believable actions of the characters. The "complexity" of the story and a large number of different twists are followed up in the individual episodes with absolute precision, and it should be mentioned in this regard that the eight episodes of the series are the work of four directors, and you absolutely canĀ“t tell that they were not made by one of them. An exceptional achievement.
