Yes, it's a low budget schlocker but you've gotta give credit to this cast for playing it completely straight throughout the proceedings. And look for a pre "Land of the Giants" Deanna Lund as one of the groovy chicks coming to the doomed island. Looks like it was fun to film!

Video tape studio "tricks" were quite common in the '60s, and this telefilm is filled with them. If you can get past the ancient effects, there's some charm lost to time in this Christmas time offering. A bit saccharine, kids of a very young age might be somewhat engaged but the real treat is seeing some stars of yesteryear hamming it up for their pay. Who knew Fred Gwynne could carry a tune? And Connie Stevens belting the benefits of flight while swinging on wires in angel robes. Worth a look after a few bottles of wine.

  • Gore, gore and more.......

I saw this film last night and wondered why Hollywood assumes that we need another gory, suspense-less collage of ridiculous scenes. I'm a fan of Tobe Hooper's original, which built suspense with clever film-making; this film only made me turn my head away on several occasions. OK, I realize that the target audience is whomever buys a ticket, but seriously! Way to "hack up" a franchise, people! We never really know what is wrong with Leatherface, except that he's ugly and apparently a murderous freak. And the acting? Some comments say it was great......hmmm.....well, if you can scream and yell and still be attractive, then this was your casting call. Save your money, or wait for the "Unrated" DVD, because we need deleted scenes with more blood, right?
