  • Great acting, boringly long, terrible music

Tried for an hour to get into the storyline, to conclude its pretentious and very bad. Really wanted to leave then, but my friend seemed to want to try for another hour, and I could not leave her alone in the cinema.

If you like art, sure you can watch it, but I compare it to the art of ducked taping a banana to the wall and pretend its art. It feels like the writer and director were taking the piss of the audience in saying; 'let's see how far we can stretch this and still make people watch till the end'.

In fact its 3 separate films, so why 2:44 hours of torture?

The music is very bad and annoying. Is it the neighbours cat playing the 2 chords on the piano? If they hired someone for this, its very sad.

The acting is superb, but its very, very slow paced and mostly boring. They aim for black humor in this film? Only had to laugh a few times.

True; It sure is black and dark. Not very much in it to like or enjoy apart from the great acting. Some 'intimate' scenes are just plain filthy, and hard to watch.

Oh man, what a bad joke and a total waste of time.

I loved poor things and I still love Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe, again, what an acting, but wow.... :(

  • Good movie, despite colonel Parker talking like Repelsteeltje

Good movie. Fast paced and because of flashbacks/forward you have to pay attention, but adds to the viewing pleasure.

Austin Buttler is great, Tom Hanks (as Colonel Parker) is showing the worst acting. He talks and acts like the fairytale Repelsteeltje (rumpelstiltskin). Me being part Dutch, that made the film a bit clowneske and certainly annoying by times. Thats the worst accent of an actor Ive seen in years.

All things considering; its great to see the great Elvis portrayed by Butler with great music and also getting to know Elvis as a person from the perspective from Baz Luhrman.

  • hilarious and sadness walk the path of life hand in hand

Extraordinary film with great humor and witty conversations. I was swept of my feet before the first 5 minutes were over. Yes, the movie is very funny - I had tears in my eyes from laughing - but sometimes the tears that had started from laughter, remained to be there because of the sadness of Simon's illness...

It's pace is quite fast, it's very difficult to get bored in viewing it. The play of lead actor Cees Geel is excellent, as viewer you fall in love with this guy from the start and won't be disappointed about him as the movie proceeds. He plays a very humorous and positive guy, who's a bit macho, but also very sweet. People around him are regularly been given a big smile on their faces.

But also Marcel Hensema is playing very convincingly as the gay Camiel who's studying to become a dentist. He's a bit more introvert than Simon, but he and Simon fit well together in both fun and conversations on life's issues and become very close friends.

I guess the movie is filled with typically Dutch issues. The nudeness and joints are all over the screen, but also the way conversations are held on being gay (Camiel) and how to deal with Cancer (Simon) could be seen as open-minded (or controversial?) Dutch.

All and all I found this movie highly entertaining while it touched some heavy emotions at the same time.
