I was a big fan of writer-director Hong Khaou before I saw this wonderfully touching movie. I had loved his award-winning short films SUMMER & SPRING. They were both original and funny and moving. Neither of those works, however, prepared me for the depth and beauty of LILTING. This movie is heartbreaking but it is also truly life affirming. The writing and directing by Hong are stellar. The editing and music are spot on. And the acting is glorious. Ben Whishaw continues to astonish. Legendary actress Pei-pei Cheng gives the performance of her career. She is glorious.
I highly recommend this lovely gem of a film. Bravo to all involved.

Originally a wonderful short movie called FLOAT, CHILDREN OF GOD is a moving, thought-provoking, funny and brilliantly poetic love story. Set in the idyllic world of the Bahamas, a blocker painter (Johnny Ferro) searches for inspiration for his painting but instead finds inspiration in the arms of another lost soul (Stephen Tyrone Williams). Director Kareem Mortimer has set this beautiful story in an island paradise. But the characters he has created keep finding ways to keep paradise from coming true for them. The acting in this movie is revelatory. All of he performances are top notch, especially those by Johnny Ferro, Stephen Tyrone Williams and Margaret Laurena Kemp. The camera especially loves the beautiful and sensuous Stephen Tyrone Williams. This movie is a work of art that should be seen by everyone. Bravo to all involved.
I am very, very happy to have just caught this movie last week at the NewFest LGBT Film Festival in New York. Director Frederic Chane-Son has written and directed and beautifully enigmatic and sexy short film.
The audience wonders who the characters are in relation to each other. The avoidance of obviousness is perfect for the pace of the film. The main actors are sexy and easy on the eyes.
Speaking of eyes, this film is directed with much style and artistry.
I look forward to more work from Frederic Chane-Son. He is a true artist! Bravo, Frederic! I can't wait to see what you come up with in the future.
