The acting in this film was phenomenal. I enjoyed his supposed daughter's performance as well as Nicholas Cage. He always seems to have an eccentric role in film and this movie is no different. He has OCD and it's funny and sad watching him tic and go through the motions. His partner in the film is fabulous as his dedicated friend. The music is fabulous as it helped with the movies' flow. Unfortunately in many instances the film was extremely slow which had me looking at the clock. I thought the movie would have focused more on the con than it did on Cage's personality disorder. Overall it was a pretty good movie, good acting, and great music. Not a must see though.
I liked the cast of the movie, although I would have preferred that Shane West was in more scenes. I'm not quite sure that they explained properly Sam's relationship her mother. Sam definitely had a chip on her shoulder but they never fully explained why. Additionally, I found the dream sequences to be kind of lame. I also would have preferred they showed or at least expressed how long she had been on chemo before she decided on her own to stop doing therapy. It didn't give the audience a frame of reference and due to her parents reaction almost made you feel as if she didn't want to fight for her life. The acting was great though. A decent movie to watch on cable during a rainy weekend afternoon.
This was a pretty good remake of a movie that was perfect to begin with. I think Jeff Daniels made his own fabulous spin on the character of Elliot yet was able to still capture some of the original scenes with "Dreyfuss-Daniels" flair. Patricia Heaton also did a grand job. I wasn't as thrilled with the performance of Lucy but then again not everything could be perfect. She did a great job of embodying the character yet overall I'm not sure I took a great liking altogether to the actress. Kudos to Hootie for redoing the song by "Bread", as always an awesome classic. Overall if you enjoyed the original this was film was a nice breath of fresh air. As usual though on a late afternoon I'll always opt for some Dreyfuss meditation anyday.
