This is a true rarity, a horror/ghost story that has a script that is truly original, and gets better with each episode. It even had me jump a few times, which hasn't happened since I first saw "The Exorcist."
At 74, it's hard to surprise me anymore, but this series actually did. A BIG thank you to the writers! And another BIG thank you to the producers for backing a story of this genre! Too often these stories are left on the scrap heap because this genre is rarely given the time and advertising it needs to get the audience it deserves. I hate it when I see an old series that I had missed its first time around, and discover it was one I would have watched if I knew it existed at the time! I always think that they should have learned from the original "StarTrek." It wasn't a western, it was too expensive, and it hadn't grabbed its audience, yet. So, they cancelled it, to the outcry of thousands upon thousands of fans. That was a HUGE mistake, as they learned when it turned into a very profitable series of movies and spin-offs!
Anyway, back to THIS limited series. It is well worth your time! The stories are terrific, the acting very good, and the direction and production very well done. I say stories, because each episode, though tied together by the characters, and location, is different from the one before until it is all tied together at the end. The BBC has done it again! A terrific series!
And, sadly, i Miss this series when it first aired. I didn't see this series until 2025. And, like StarTrek, and so many others, it should have had a second season, and many more. But, like those other series. It was put on the junk heap, because.........?????????
