The topic is a pretty though one to discuss, but I think he did it pretty well this way. The slavery part in the beginning was a bit extreme but I guess that was just for us to wake up. Overall I think it's a good one to watch and it gives perspective to people's daily live.
As a non-native English speakers I didn't even noticed that they were Australian until I saw the reviews here. Ok, the accent of the grandfather was a bit off but rather then that I didn't noticed. It was easy to watch feel good movie, but indeed as most of you also said it had a lot of cliche moments. It reminded me of many other romantic comedies. Overall we still enjoyed watching it and considering the fact it was shot during corona times it was not too bad.
It started relatively strong, but very soon ended up full of cliches, rushed scenes and bad fight scenes. The most enjoyable part of the movie was laughing recognizing a cliche! Could have been a nice movie, but unfortunately it wasn't good.
