This is a copycat of the series Garage Sale Mystery with one of my favorite, Lea Thompson. But poor Lea is 60 years old now in this and it shows! No more Amanda Jones from Some Kind of Wonderful!
In Garage Sale Mystery the show runs for one hour and a half and for the Spencer Sisters, only 45 minutes... And no beautiful Lori Loughlin...
Yes it's a canadian production and again supposed to take place in USA... Worth the watch? Only a few episodes. There is no real continuity in the show, those ladies solving a different crime on every episode...
Better watch old Mannix, Hawaii 5-0, Kojak or any 45 (50 then) minutes shows.

I just found the restored version at 2 hours and 20 minutes. I must say that the colors are amazing so the sound.
But that ''Cinerama'' process makes the movie totally unwatchable. It is only takes of widescreen lenses or a 3 cameras system but at the end, all you have is widescreen shots.
You don't have close-ups or meduim shots. So you never see a face. If i didn't know Barbara Eden was in the film and we know her by heart because of Jeannie, i would not have recognized her!
So i quit after 45 minutes. The story is not interesting enough at 45 minutes for me to continue and those widescreen shots are so annoying. I'm not the only one complaining about that. Camera always still steady, no panning, no movements.
Yes it must have been a stunning invention in 1960 but today...
Giving 5 stars for the colors, costumes, etc. 5 stars out for the widescreen process all along. I watched it on a 43 inches tv. Maybe on a 70 inches...

We all know the storylines of those movies. A pretty girl single of course usually meets a nice man but widow with a children, they get along, have fun, near the end of the movie had a fight and finally at the end of the picture, they kiss and live happy forever!!!
Elvis Presley did 31 movies and most of them were about that same pattern but without the christmas time. Christmas movies by the ton didn't exist in the 60's...
What we have here?! The girl, the man, no widow, no child of his own. Ok, a little different. What is the plot about then??? It's about a man who REFUSES to play Santa Claus for just one evening??
What's that??? Who will refuse to play Santa and replace his father for a couple of hours??? NOBODY!!! The movie is ALL about that!
One star because of the always lovely Jodie Sweetin and zero star for the carachter of the man who is mean, selfish, unfriendly, etc.
Time to stop making 100 christmas movies like that every year and returning to the good ones like Christmas Vacations or Home Alone...
