It was a feast of visual delight. From the color palettes to the dramatic lighting, no details were spared. There are new experimentation that Tsui Hark has put in, so while it brings back the memories of the peak of the Hong Kong film era, it is still fresh and dynamic. The action sequences are particularly interesting, with a mix of martial arts, wire fu and now CGI, but yet not forgetting actual real world physics, bringing us an exhilarating choreography. Kudos to the actors, who definitely put in a lot of hard work to create such fluid action sequences. As a Louis Cha fan, I am very satisfied with this adaptation.
The growth story of Tang San from a village blacksmith to a genius Soul Master. This is adapted from the novel of the same name, "Douluo Continent", which had been a household fantasy novel in China.
The special effects within this drama is the first thing that catches my eye. Vibrant effects that blend well within the fantasy world and realistic soul beasts makes the imaginary world believable.
The story is told in a humorous way, and as such the ground work for the fantasy setting is shown to the audience in a way that is clear but yet interesting.
While the core of the story belongs to Tang San, the supporting casts has their own mini arcs as well to provide us their backstory as well as character motivations. This brings about great chemistry on screen when these characters bond together into their battle team.
Overall, the story is entertaining and I'm looking forward to any other future seasons from this cast!
