One of my sci-fi/horror/fantasy reviews written 50 years ago: Directed by David Lowell Rich; Produced by Anthony Wilson, for CBS-TV. Screenplay by Ron Austin and Jim Buchanan; Photography by Earl Rath; Edited by Bud Isaacs; Music by Morton Stevens. Starring: Jane Merrow, Roy Thinnes, William Shatner, Chuck Connors, Tammy Grimes, Lyn Loring, Buddy Ebsen, Will Hutchins, Paul Winfield, France Nuyen, Darlene Carr and Russell Johnson.
Effective paranoid TV horror film cleverly updating consciously Lovecraftian Old Ones druidic terror premises into claustrophobic contemporary "Grand Hotel of the air" format. Illogical characterizations, with cast members written out at will (for example, France Nuyen) and TV commercial-style pacing mitigate its overall effect.

One of my sci-fi/horror/fantasy reviews written 50 years ago:n Directed by Bill Glenn; Produced by Barbara Schultz, for Universal TV, in the "Wide World of Mystery" series, broadcast by ABC-TV. Screenplay by Robert Van Scoyck, from Sherman Yellen's story; Assistant Director: Zane Radney. Starring: Andy Robinson, Jamie Smith Jackson, Salome Jens, Elayne Heilveil, Sarah Cunningham and Lou Frizzell.
Shaggydog teletape mystery filler posing as supernatural horror via the red herring plot device of a suspected house of contemporary perverse (female bondage-prone) female witches/devil worshipers. A fine cast of players suffer an uphill battle, with Robinson notably cast against type as a thoughtful deputy sheriff hero.

One of my sci-fi/horror/fantasy reviews written 50 years ago: Directed by Wallace Worsley; Produced by Irving Thalberg and Carl Laemmle, for Universal Pictures. Screenplay by Edward Lowe Junior, from Victor Hugo's novel; Photography by Robert Newhard; Edited by Edward Curtiss, Maurice Pivar and Sydney Singerman. Starring Lon Chaney, Patsy Ruth Miller, Norman Kerry, Ernest Torrence, Gladys Brockwell, Kate Lester, Winifred Bryson, Eulalie Jensen, Brandon Hurst, Tully Marshall, Raymond Hatton, Nigel De Brulier and Nick De Ruiz.
Visually distinguished horror film notable for Chaney's definitive performance, but not as fully satisfying as the Dieterle/Laughton version.
