  • Excellent film, much like Man on Fire

Just watched this film and have to say, very good in the scheme of things. The film is quite slow at the beginning as others have said, however it quickly gathers pace. The way the script introduces you to the characters is excellent and its only when you see Liam Neeson tackling a crazed fan that you think he is an excellent choice in the lead role, in fact he carries it off very well. I wasn't too sure on Holly Valance as the pop singer, but as the number of scenes she is in are fairly minimal its OK. Action sequences are very well shot and you can tell Luc Besson had his hand in this. To this end, the overall film has an excellent pace which keeps you very well entertained. It has the same sort of storyline as Man on Fire so if you liked that film, then you will definitely like this. I would say its probably slightly better with the direction and cinematography being just a bit classier. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend you seeing this. 7/8 out of 10

  • Good film, good acting, great effects, but is it an true INDY film??

Managed to get tickets for the midnight screening last night and was really looking forward to this one! Opening sequence was v good, and Harrison does manage to carry off the Indiana look still, even though he's looking a little haggard. At the beginning you think the story line is looking good and the plot is "thickening" so to speak. The action and the pace of the movie is good and it really keeps you gripped all the way up until the last 10-15 minutes, where the story line finishes with a rather weak and non-Indy like ending. My colleague who watched it with me is also a big Indiana Jones Fan, and he was also a little dismayed by the ending. Don't get me wrong, its a GOOD film and credit to Spielberg and the cast, but i think the story line is just NOT a typical Indiana Jones movie. Once you have seen the film and the emergence of the underlying piece up to the end sequence, you will see what i mean. Based on the story line and the ending being slightly disappointing, i rate it a 7.

  • Proper Gangsta movie!

For all you Scarface, Casino, Goodfellas lovers out there.. you MUST see this movie. its got everything - violence, blood, great 1 liners, great actors, good story.. the lot! I was hooked on this from the first moment I saw it... its a great movie. The Cranberry Juice Bar scene is a classic, along with a many others.. I thought Jack Nicholson deserves a nomination for his character... it was superb.. Technically, the camera work is excellent, some of the ways Scorsese has filmed are just pure genius. It really made you get into the film. The language is course, so if you don't like the "Cee U Next Tuesday", then don't go and watch it!. The soundtrack is also very good and matches the mood of the film very well. Overall this is the best film I have seen all year.. by far... I WILL be buying this 1 on DVD... 10 out of 10!
