Jei-Kuma's rating
Having seen the original version of this film and liking the tension and shock that it provided I was intrigued by this remake. Although it is set in the UK it is obviously an American production and this becomes clear as you notice the changes that were made in order to water it down for an American audience. That being said this version follows the original for the first half of the film and then takes a different direction than the original. As a standalone film this probably would have received a higher rating from me, however it has nothing on the original. Going in I was confused why they remade it as the original may have been a Danish production but was English language throughout, if given the choice I would highly recommend watching the original over this.
After stumbling across this short film on Kickstarter it instantly grabbed my interest. I quickly decided to back the project and have recently been able to watch the final film. I think it shows a lot of promise and personally I would love to see a feature length version down the line, especially because I believe there is a market for it.
That being said, I wasn't a fan of the lead actor, he came across quite wooden and the supporting actor definitely put in a stronger performance. I know it is a short film but I do feel like it could have benefitted from a slightly longer run time to help get the characters motivations over to the audience. However the film was wonderfully put together and the cinematography was beautiful.
If you are like me and you are a fan of games particularly from that era then you will most likely enjoy it.

Season one is filled with promise, the story kept getting more interesting and the season finale ended on a high. Littered with characters that I found myself both loving and hating at times, the development across the first season is well thought out and well acted.
My only issue is that it has the potential to get ridiculous across more seasons due to them potentially writing themselves into a corner. I loved season one and can't wait for season two to start so hopefully they will prove me wrong and stay consistent.
Overall if you are a fan of sci-do horror and looking for something new to watch I highly recommend this and if you can try to binge watch it to add to the experience.
