Okay my apologizes for presuming in the title that viewers and fans of this movie also have seen the famous Starz series 'Spartacus'. Btw if you like this genre and have not then you should.
Back to Pompeii - certainly have a nice thread of a story of a destitute boy turned slave turned gladiator. And then as icing throw in the angle of revenge and romance. Was a great setup hell even better than Spartacus. However the movie lost it as trying too hard to play on the lines of the Starz series and therefore being overshadowed by it. To add to the watering down was some poor acting by the lead actor, actress and his gladiator buddy. Matter of fact the villain camp starting with the corrupt senator did a much better acting job. The fights were a complete miss in one instance a gashed neck produces no blood! Better acting and rock solid production would have made this movie a classic but alas it was not to be.
