Battle Beyond the Stars? That one had more charm. This one shows just another small female warrior wiping out a bunch of men who are twice her size and number. Enough already. Whatever happened to the capable male warrior? Thankfully, Braveheart won big at the Oscars as it brought back the real man, as we have been subjected to the many clones of Ellen Ripley. Still, the story is simple in the David versus Goliath style. But enough of trained uniform soliders falling prey to a bunch of simpletons. Yes, there was the Viet Nam War, but by know you should know what to do and what to avoid. Clear? Peace always.
So wrote a noted Canadian film critic upont its reliease, and I agree with him. A worthy sequel that stands on its own, though it briefly mentions that there were survivors from the original. Sure, Arnold isn't it, but there's no need for him to be; the movie holds up quite good on its own. I've never seen a bad Predator film, and though the suspense of the 1987 effort was never duplicated, the sequels that followed were no let downs. And BION - believe it or not - same film critic rated this three stars as opposed to Godfather Part III, which was rated two stars. That is an incredible feat. A gem, as another local picture described it. Sure, not everyone is a fan of the excessive foul language, but that's Hollywood for you. Best part there? The penthouse scene. You are ALWAYS being watched.
