  • Impressive movie, showing the emotional survival strengths of children.

I have seen this movie many times already. Each time I'm impressed by the way Lone Scherfig knows how to tell the story of 3 children and their way of surviving without parents. Of course, the actual story is slightly incredible. Children in Denmark will probably not be subjected to this form of abandonment. However, coming from a one parent family, I can safely say that Miss Scherfig has succeeded very well in showing what it feels like to be left without parental help. And for most of this world, the abandonment of children is a sad truth.

On top of that there's humour, good lighting and last but not least, very good music. Take for instance the scene where Kasper is harassed in school and finally flees. This scene is perfectly supported by the music. From the start of the trouble to the actual flight from his school enemies, the music amplifies the dramatic development.

    Impressive.
