Silo has to be one of the worst recent SF series I've ever seen. Tried to watch the first 2 episodes months ago and found it stupid and boring. Tried again 2 months ago, watching episodes 3 and 4 - even more stupid and boring. After seeing good reviews on this site I just gave it another try. Slow, boring, ridiculous, bad acting (especially by Robert Sims) and stupidly elementary and cliched. I can't imagine why anyone would feel otherwise. Shut if off half way into episode 6. Won't be trying again because it was such a waste of time, even though I had time to waste and that is why I gave it one last try.
I cannot imagine the book was as confusing as this series. Must be a very bad job of screen writing. Worse than that, the lead female was miscast. Pretty good actor but completely unbelievable as a woman who works as a stripper. Not beautiful. Not sexy. Not desirable. I could never get past that. Other Harlan Corben novels have been made into reasonably good series but this one was not well done. The other cast members were ok. I really liked the actor and character of Lorraine. She was tough and sexy and warm and smart. James Nesbitt did his usual great job of dominating the story and the screen.
If there was a point to this series, it was lost in the ineptness of the writer and director. I suppose I know what they were trying to say but it wasn't worth enduring the nonsense and pseudo tragedy. Why would Cumberbatch even accept this role? He was ok, I guess, but he didn't fit the part. The young boy was wonderful but he was hardly ever seen. The silliness of the children's show didn't help at all. As usual, the presence of homosexuality in the plot was unnecessary. Not so sure the actor who played the lead detective brought much at all to the overall product. Don't waste your time on this one.
