It is a satirical comedy show which grows up with every new episode like a scotch whisky. Setup in the Hindi heartland of a Bihar village, Dhadakpur, the only crime free village of India, an incidence has happened, pushing the balance of lives of that village.
This is such a fresh story which deserves standing by ovation for almost every department. The writing and screenplay standout along with camera work. Performance of every single actor is so great that they will leave lasting impression on your heart. The only downside is the background music which could be far better. Dialogues are full of o liner solid punch which will keep you laughing. The show is full of different characters and you will connect with all of them. Some were comparing it to Panchayat. But trust me, both have totally different narration style and storyline's. The only commonality is the village setup of both stories. This is the best web series so far of 2025 which you can enjoy with your entire family. Highly recommended.

Mark my title, as I am seeing the end of glorious life of Maddock films which gave us fresh top class entertaining movies, whose pinnacle was Stree 2. Chhava marks its downfall. I am surprised how such a mediocre or even below that is being appreciated in reviews and even our PM is singing praise for it! This is a propaganda movie of false pride and hero worshipping with pathetic quality of film making. One can simply understand this by the fact that by the statement given at the start of the cinema itself: "It was only Marathas who fought Mughals"! A blatant lie and same time insulting to others like Guru Gobind Singh whose sacrifices shine above all.
Every race of thsi nation has its part of glory and shame...If Sambhaji has glories for marathas then more than his glories are shames of marathas of deception and backstabbing evrytime..from Mughals to Abdali, this stands true. Also the film easily ignored to question the Marathas that what they were doing when Aurangzeb kept giving slow death to Sambhaji for 40 days in their very own maharastra?? Why they did not try to set him free??
Barring the last scene of Kavi Kalash salutation to his king, nothing penetrates your heart. Sambha ji was a multi talented man, whose persona had many things to tell, including his protection of Tamil kings ( and Sambhar dish was his invention while staying there away from home for many months). He was loved by all. His tongue was pulled out because Aurangeb offered him to marry his daughter ( who was actually Dara Shikoh's Daughter who actually took all decisions and administration of Aurangzeb), and accept Islam. In return, Sambhaji abused him a lot and Islam, so his tongue was pulled out. Sambhaji did not die standing chained. He was chopped into pieces which were thrown in the river. Thereafter, wife of Ramraj, Tara Devi, the daughter of Sambhaji emerged as a lady of steel who gave tough time to Mughals, and after which Maratha empire reached zenith with loyality of Peshwas.
This entire story could have been told much better way. But every department failed...EVen background score was too loud and irritating. It was appearing if we were watching some nautanki of stage or performance by theatre group in theatre..all loud. Not a sinlge good music.
The worse can be judged by the pathetic and redundant display of Guerilla wars. Camera failed to capture the canvas with grandness and looked as if we are watching some TV serial canvas. I think the last good period film I watched where every department was balanced in the craft was Jodha Akbar and Bhansali's Padmavat. Prithviraj and this was are dullest of all the period movies..even Tana ji was better than this one.
About the performance: No character development was done in depth..so no actor has much left..except one man being tried all time being projected as Lion..and in doing so, he is all time yelling like animal. All loud performance. Rashmika Mandana had nothing to display but a stone faced expressionless all time queen..falls pale when you compare it with the queen of Bahubali! To some extent and surprisingly with nothing much given to do, Kavi Kalash by Vineet Kumar displays some performance and promise of this film. This film is apt example of misuse of talents actually.
HAd this film been made with honesty and heart, this film would have shined..but when you have propaganda and politics all the time..it may shine under overhype and false word of mouth but will have shorter life in the heart..It can't reach the glories of Padmavat and Jodha Akbar..it will never!

The movie was written for Vijay Sethupathi, and he ably carries entire film with his great performance. But for me, the show stealer is Anurag Kashyap..a man who is leading a dual life, where feelings for own family is so high that for that killing others matters nothing until this difference is blurred one final day!
Also made me remember another classic masterpiece from Bollywood, Welcome to Badlapur starring Nawaz and Varun Dhawan...Both have similar storyliens and similar level of impacts.
I had seen this director's Monkey Bag earlier and liked it. Same fingerprint of story telling is here also, but a bit more complicated as you have to be careful to understand the scenes whether it came from flashback or present, and the director plays on this trick to the hilt...You think that Maharaja is trying to get the dustbin before his daughter arrives...while story is completely different. For narration this movie should be given national award.
In total, after Lapata Ladies, I will call this movie as the best one of this year, and Anurag Kashyap's performance stands out and deserves all awards. You hate him and you also feel for him.
