When are modern directors and actors going to realise that whispering most lines is not acting. It just makes it difficult for the viewer. This is a cracking story, an important story and most of the cast seem professional and capable. However, when it was in post production I can only assume the director didn't watch the Final Cut as the sound quality in places is appalling. Whenever Michael Caine is on screen he shows how actors can speak clearly, enunciate all the words and use facial expression to act the socks off the rest of the cast. Sophie Lowe is a weak link and simply did not convince . Similarly, Matthew Goode disappoints and is extremely one dimensional. It is a great pity as this could have been a great film. On reflection I think as well as the whispering and the mumbling, the editors have allowed the music to play too loud and drown out the dialogue.
One of the better Amazon prime films. Great cast who are all on great form. John Cena is just fantastic and Idris Elba shows a comedic ability that has been threatening to emerge for a while. I really hope there is a sequel as it really works. The quality of the production is excellent and hats off to the director. Some great music as well. I really thought I was going to dislike the film but it was quite the opposite. Unusually for me I watched it right through to the credits at the end. For some reason the app seems to want far more words than usual so I am having to finish with this drivel. Oh well.
