Ok, so there may have been too few or too many shots fired at the Ok Corral, and the costumes may be different, but this is a perfect movie. If it was too accurate it would have been boring. Val Kilmer may not be as gaunt as Doc was in real life but I bet Doc didn't get the laughs Kilmer did. Dana Delaney was perfect as Josephine, although I have to admit the constant wagging of her head annoyed me a bit. The one major flaw in this movie is that at the very end, as Wyatt and Josephine are dancing in the snow, the music is drowned out after three seconds as the final narration begins. They should have let the music carry on for a bit. But Hey Ho. Rent it, buy it, watch it. Let yourself be immersed in this movie. It will make you feel great. You can laugh, cry and feel disgusted in some parts. Not many film allow such a span of emotions as that.

Last of the Mohicans is perfect in almost every way. Yes, Dances With Wolves was interesting and had beautiful scenery and a moving soundtrack, but it has to be said that towards the last third I was hoping it would end soon, as it is over three hours long. Michael Mann, however, expertly made Last of the Mohicans only 100 minutes long. This means there is no unnecessary dialogue, no boring bits and no repetition. It is action-packed, with strong underlying feelings of inspiration and romance. The score is powerful, dramatic and breathtaking, all in one. The penultimate scene is the most exciting and, without giving too much away, it will leave you sobbing yet satisfied. Some may be put off by the violence, but if you watch carefully, you will see that while a lot of it seems bloody, the camera is neatly placed on something else before the crucial killing moment. The amazing pieces of music will leave you wanting to join the Mohicans in their fight for freedom and survival. There is romance too, yet not too much emphasis is placed on it, so the film does not get sidetracked. While Daniel Day Lewis' Irish lilt is occasionally evident, he plays a brilliant Hawkeye. Some things have been changed from the original novel by James Fenimore Cooper, but the film does him justice superbly.

I watched this film as I'm a sucker for weepies. I didn't know that it was about CS Lewis, a little naive, you may say, but I just saw that it had a good rating in the TV guide and so I set the video to record it. I have told my family that I will kill them if they ever record over this film! It is beautiful. No background knowledge of the life of CS Lewis is needed- just sit back and enjoy. Some people may criticise such things as Debra Winger's accent and the fact that Douglas (Joseph Mazzello) should have had a brother in the film, but ignore them and let yourself be submerged in the sheer excellence of the film. The best line, for me, is when Hopkins, as Lewis, is teaching his class and tells them that "The most intense joy lies not in the having, but in the desire. The delight that never fades, the bliss that is eternal, is only yours when what you most desire is just out of reach". It will leave you crying yet contented. Watch this film, but do so with a box of tissues. If you leave the room to get something, you will without fail miss something. Not a moment of this movie must be missed!
