I can literally watch an episode of this show and NEVER laugh, smile, chuckle. The show was created by the same guy who made "Two and a Half Men" (need I say more?) and probably written by the same folks. They have little knowledge of science and basically wrap up the same lame one-liners in pseudo-scientific jargon that has little to do with the humor. For the most part, the characters are totally unbelievable. I don't think there are any scientist in the world that are as smart as they are supposed to be who act so oblivious to how the world works. Sheldon needs to be in mental counseling as depicted. He is VERY annoying and you wonder why the other roommates don't shove him to the curb. There is also no way in hell the girl next door would have anything to do with them. This show is just more of the same from CBS, the number one network of retirement centers everywhere.
Specifically regarding second hand smoke portion of the show....sure they make the claim that it doesn't "significantly" cause cancer in non-smokers. To me, that's only half the point. Smoking is a disruptive and invasive activity. When you go into a building where people are smoking it stinks and the smell gets all in your clothing and your hair. It can cause allergic reactions and possibly worse for those people with breathing problems. So who has more rights...the rights of people to burn paper and plant material so they can get a fix or the rights of people to breath clean, fresh air?
In the show, one smoker compared smoking bans to banning cake....wrong! He can eat all the cake he wants to. Unless he smears it on my face and on my clothes I'm not going to smell it, taste it, or get sick because of it. It's just a really really bad comparison. Let's compare it to burning incense. Even in smoking establishments, I would not be allowed to just light up a few candles and set them on my table to stink up the joint. I'd get kicked out.
What about other types of disruptive behavior; noise pollution, really bad BO, being insulting....to me these don't come anywhere close to how bad smoking is but in all three situations the owner of the establishment has the right to ask these folks to leave his business. I really think Penn and Teller focused solely on the limited cancer research to make their show and didn't even address the actual situation....the act of smoking should not interfere with the rights of non-smoking.
Smoking is an action, it's a behavior; non-smoking is not....people don't actively non-smoke. I think people have more of a right to clean air than smokers have a right to make the air I breath and my clothing smell nasty. If a private business owner wants to allow smoking, then he's going to have to deal with non-smokers not shopping there.

I didn't really have very big expectations for this film when I rented it, but I found it very thrilling and enjoyable. The action sequences were excellent and I found the acting to be well done. I must say that I really don't understand the negative comments that have been made about this movie. Perhaps this movie is better left to those who don't find the need to tear apart every single frame looking for perceived errors. I think if you're calm enough to just enjoy a movie for it's own sake and not expect it to follow every single rule in the known universe, you'll come out really liking it. It's like complaining that the USS Enterprise makes noise when it goes to warp cause there's no noise in space....folks...it's a movie, not Nova. Personally, I think it would be stupid to watch a spaceship blast into warp in complete silence. Any why no complaints that we don't have the technical know-how to make a ship like the Enterprise. When does it end? Give the film a chance....if you find yourself making the plot holes bigger than they should be, turn on PBS.
