I think people have an expectation of this type of story to be either a romantic comedy with a cheesy happy end or psychological thriller where someone ends up being brutally murdered. But the vibe here is very different. It is a drama but it is not overly exaggerated. The characters are realistic, with realistic feelings and realistic problems. Nobody is turning into a psychopath to add thrill to the movie. Gigolo is not being romanticized because, plain and simple, it is not romantic to be forced to do these things for money. It is a sad and realistic story of a guy who lives his life the only way he knows, who tries to convince himself that this is what he wants until he falls in love. Love pushes him to rethink his life. Despite some explicit and provocative scenes, the message here is, actually, quite conservative. Cagatay Ulusoy delivers a brilliant performance. The way he can show emotions with his face and eyes is amazing. And only that is worth watching. The chemistry between lead cast is excellent. So, in the end, if you are looking for a lighter drama, strong acting, and a story that is emotional, touching and realistic, this is your movie.
This series is great! However, like other reviews mentioned, you have to watch more than 2 episodes. In the first two episodes it may seem like some kind of action drama with a slow developing plot and you are not really sure where it is going. It picks up from about episode 3 and becomes more and more interesting with every new episode. Once you understand the satire of this series, you realize that it is an action comedy with elements of drama. The twists and turns of the plot, never ending action, outstanding lead cast, well developed characters and hilarious dialogues keep you glued to the screen. You are constantly wondering what is going to happen next. I also want to mention that the performances of Cagatay Ulusoy, Sumeyye Aydogan, Onur Saylak, Ugur Yildiran and Alper Cankaya are simply brilliant. I give this series a 10.
