This was a film I had been waiting for. Apple TV assembled a promising cast: Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy make an excellent duo, and behind the camera is none other than Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange, Sinister). At the core of the story are two mercenaries recruited for an ultra-secret mission-so secret that even they don't know the details.
From the very start, the film doesn't waste a second: a brief yet impactful introduction to the characters, and then straight into the action. Derrickson masterfully blends two genres, creating a tone that perfectly suits the story. The screenplay is sharp and doesn't try to be something it's not, while the pacing remains steady without a single dull moment. Every scene moves the plot forward, keeping the audience engaged right up to the finale, which delivers satisfying answers to all the key questions.
Once again, Derrickson proves his talent for crafting tension and keeping viewers on edge. In this film, he does it brilliantly.
Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy are world-class actors, and here they fully live up to their reputations. Their on-screen chemistry is undeniable, making their shared scenes truly memorable. Their characters feel alive, rather than just pawns in an action blockbuster.
A special mention goes to cinematographer Dan Laustsen (John Wick 2, 3, 4; The Shape of Water), who has an extensive background in both drama and action films. Here, he skillfully blends stylish action sequences with mesmerizing drama, creating a visually rich and emotionally gripping film.
Verdict: The Gorge is not just another streaming action flick. It's a film that leaves an impression and lingers in your mind long after the credits roll. If you're looking for something dynamic, stylish, and emotionally engaging, this one is a must-watch.

Netflix delivers yet another star-studded cast: Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz are reason enough to hit play, and Andrew Scott, though appearing briefly, adds a touch of charm to the mix. However, even the brightest cast can't save a film when the script falls short - and here, it certainly does.
After watching, I was left with a strange sense of something missing. There's too little of everything: not enough jokes to make you laugh out loud, not enough action to keep you on the edge of your seat, and not enough intrigue to maintain interest. Netflix, which has recently been surprising us with quality projects like Carry On, seems to have taken a step back this time.
Is Back in Action the perfect choice for a cozy evening on the couch with some snacks? Absolutely. But will it be something you'll remember or want to revisit in the future? Definitely not. It's the kind of movie made to entertain you once - and that's it.
Verdict: If you're looking for a light film that doesn't demand much from you, Back in Action is a solid choice. But if you want something more memorable, you might want to check out a different title. Enjoy the show!
