  • disappointment from the great coens

i just want to quickly say that i rate movies fairly, no matter when they are made, who directed them or who's acting in them, but purely weather i was interested or not. even if bogart himself would've played the lead in this one, i would've given it the same little below average rating. there's no magic. when your movie is missing the magic, especially a film of this particular genre, it's worthless. biggest upsets of the film were that there's no good music or good camerawork with the lighting and the narrator is not witty, but infact just like the title says, uninteresting.

  • great cast - one boring movie

as a johnny depp fan i check out all his films. this one also featured other interesting actors. johnny depp though was sadly as badly out of it as he was in jack the ripper. you can always tell from his acting when a movie's not really sparking what he excpected inside him. john turturro does the best work in his role. infact, the parts with turturro are the only (mediocry) interesting parts in this film. the man who cried is a sleeping pill that works better than any pharmaseutical equivalent. much is already said about the plot, or the lack of it so i'll spare my hands and leave it at that. this movie is just, simply put, a complete failure.

  • it's interesting that many choose to ignore the absolutely horrifying acting

i don't have time to go deeper into this movie now, i was just amazed how only a few reviewers seemed to pay attention to the lousy acting. even clint himself is guilty to it.

a good movie, but the acting really took some of it away for me.
