I'm a Trekkie. I've watched and own every series that has preceded this. So i understand the love for the franchise. What i do not understand is the god awful reviews people are laying on this new version.
I personally like it...a lot.
Star Trek needs a shot in the arm and a serious shake up otherwise all we'll end up with is another series exactly the same as everything that has come before. Every ep looks like a movie, the acting is solid (in particular Jason Isaacs) and the writing is quality too.
I think a lot of the hardcore fans (i would consider myself one) just wanted Picard 2.0. It's time to move on guys.

Not since Christopher Reeve first played Superman has an actor truly embodied a superhero, until now. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is earnest and believable. Is the film perfect? No, but it's few flaws are easily forgotten by the obvious heart and soul poured into this movie. Long live DC.
PS: The world needs a prequel/spin off movie focused on the Amazons and starring Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen

So I managed to go to the world premiere at the Sydney opera house last night. While I will not ruin the film before its release by delivering a shot by shot review here I will say that JJ Abrams is quite possibly the smartest film maker on the planet. Managing to poke fun at some of the sillier aspects of the original series/movies while still being completely respectful, action scenes that easily rival anything in Transformers, and space battles that are breathtaking. Now let me just say that while I do consider myself a big fan of Trek in all its forms, i don't have a uniform hanging in my wardrobe and I cant speak Klingon, but having said that I will say the movie is F###ING AMAZING...!!! Honestly, incredible film, do yourself a favour and see it as soon as it comes out. thanks, the end.
