This series revolves around a murder that occurs in a high-rise society. However, the actual culprit is not the prime suspect, as it seems (not a spoiler; it's obvious). The series follows the nonchalant approach of a rising lawyer (portrayed by Pankaj Tripathi) in handling such cases. As expected in this Criminal Justice series, the truth is not as it appears, and there's always a twist waiting. I kept guessing throughout the series who the real culprit would be, but I think the makers are having a good laugh over this. Surprisingly, the acting prowess of Surveen Chawla has been utilized, and this is her movie/series appearance in a long time where she wasn't required to perform a bold scene. It's refreshing to see the showrunners recognize her acting talent. My only complaint about this series is its running time. It became monotonous in some parts and could have been shorter.
This movie centers around the life of an Indian Army officer stationed in Kashmir. It draws from the decade-old conflict in Kashmir and the ensuing battle. While it doesn't significantly contribute to the narrative, it introduces some intriguing plot twists that make it an entertaining watch. The lead actors, Kajol and Sukumaran, deliver decent performances, but they are overshadowed by Ibrahim Ali Khan. Although he improves upon his previous work, his acting lacks the emotional depth to make you feel for him. The movie portrays him in a negative light, yet you don't feel angry with him. In some instances, the screenplay attempts to highlight the positive aspects of Ibrahim's character, but it fails to evoke sympathy. This is a crucial aspect of acting, as it allows actors to connect with the audience on an emotional level. I would recommend this movie as a one-time watch, preferably with your phone in hand.
This series is based on a few gruesome murders that occur in the town of Charandaspur (which bears a striking resemblance to Benaras). The murders are portrayed in a visceral manner, with the actual acts of violence not explicitly shown. However, when the consequences of the murders are revealed, they will send shivers down your spine. Vaani Kapoor and Vaibhav Raj Gupta deliver outstanding performances as the main leads, carrying the series on their shoulders. Vaani's portrayal is commendable, and she seems genuinely believable, contrasting sharply with her previous character arcs in other movies. The story is well-crafted, and I anticipate it being adapted into a franchise with multiple seasons. Nevertheless, the writing and screenplay could have benefited from tighter plot twists. Despite this minor flaw, this series is an enjoyable watch, and I highly recommend binge-watching it in one or two sittings.
