I found this documentary to be extremely in-depth and entertaining. As the Emmy award winning sound mixer for this film, I am perhaps a bit biased. Having seen this film frame by frame I am also an expert. Two things stand out in this piece. First the interviews with the friends of the "pack" as well as the various club owners are funny and scary at the same time. These people are real! Not like the out-of-work actors and models 'reality' we have today. Second the music is hip, swingin' and perfectly arranged, giving this piece pace and a sense of historical perspective. One somewhat sad note is the music soundtrack aired on A&E January 2nd 1999 is not the same as what was used on the A&E DVD box-set. The sync and timing of the new music is not perfect, as you would expect. I can only assume licensing rights were an issue. The Rat Pack DVD is still excellent but if you see it in your TV listings, mark it on your calender!
