The various skits are all Jim Varney. I have to admit that the production is pretty low in quality, but this doesn't stop Varney from having a good time. When he's a gambler he turns his head and his cigar pokes the southern belle in the cheek and we hear the thing singe her, its hilarious. When he reads from the telephone book as if its the Bible there is seldom anything so crazy. He tells his son, "Mistake" that he's gonna read from the big book, 1st Condiminiums...

When he is Pop in the last skit, there is no doubt but that he is a comic genius who can just pull funny stuff from nowhere. "You know what's wrong with that thing? That strings too long. It takes too long for that ball to go from here to there... or maybe that paddles too small, I don't know." I wish he were still around simply so he could be alive, second so he could produce more frenetic crap like this. Its just plain fun. Enjoy.

Everyone does a stellar job of being ordinary and boring. The movie hangs together well enough, its just not the slice of life I would want to view for any length of time. Shaloub was the motivation for watching the film, and he doesn't disappoint. Tony's "Monk" character is starting to capture his face and makes it hard not to think of Adrian. He might want to dump that part soon so he doesn't end up pigeon holed. There isn't enough Shaloub in the movie to redeem it for me. It was just a little uninteresting.

The couple with the psychotic son were unbelievable at best. I suppose its better than some. Decide for yourself. If you don't want to bounce between stories use the DVD special bonus feature that lets you watch each story individually.

OK, where is it? This was one of the most compelling productions of the story I've ever seen. It was a Hallmark Hall of Fame, I know that because I got the poster from the Hallmark store back then. I agree, there was magic between the two and Scott was at his best. He WAS the Beast. No dancing teapots or children's trappings, this was adult fair and riveting in its emotion. Why isn't this released? Scott is dead, could it be tied up in court somewhere? We need a petition. I remember it being very dark, in subject and in setting. The castle was foreboding and it made Trish V. that much more lovely. The on screen magic between this husband and wife team, at the time, was palpable. I really want to see it again, better yet, own it!
