As a loyal L&O:SVU fan, I am this close to dropping this show for the superior L&O and so many other shows out there in the streaming world after tonight's episode. Every time SVU brings back Rollins I wonder why they keep investing in a character who left instead of the new ones currently in the cast. Did the producers change, did the writers? All the other supporting detectives die a slow death when the "great" Rollins comes back. I don't buy it. Her character is not so amazing that other law enforcement groups need her because she ("the professor" lol) knows more than they do. This constant guesting of Rollins to me is a bandaid by writers who don't know what to do with their newer cast... uh oh, people aren't bonding with the new castmates so let's bring back Rollins! Doing so is a sign of weakness, and again it diminishes any chances of new castmates getting good story lines. If SVU can't write well for their current cast then guess what: stop making this show. If it's over, it's over. You're grasping every time you bring Rollins back and she suddenly acts like she's an employee of SVU again when she isn't and you deny all the other detectives a chance to be seen. It's lazy and I'm tired of it. Unless this is an arc to remove Carisi per his new traume and that's why she's here. But if that's the case--as much as I'll miss Carisi--do it already and get her old character out. Then you have 2 choices: either ramp up the rest of your cast or stop making this show. The grey middle is not a good look for you, SVU. Please, to quote Liz Lemon, nut up and pick a side so then you can move forward.
